TWIN TRANSFORMATION NEWSLETTER 5

10 March 2026 10:35

Dear reader,

Following our successful 3rd Transnational Project Meeting in Elche , the Twin Transformation Project is excited to announce a major leap forward in our mission to empower the footwear and leather industries. We are now entering the final stages of developing our core resource: the Twin Transformation E-Learning Platform.

Partners are currently building a dedicated digital space on the project website designed specifically for SME owners, employees, and apprentices. The interactive training material is being developed under the leadership of CNA Marche (Italy), to ensure a user-friendly and personalized learning experience.

The TwinTransformation e-learning platform will provide free and open access to:

Multilingual interactive training: Digital materials are structured in 6 training modules based on Open Educational Resources (OERs):

  • Module 1 Digital Product Passports for SMEs: Unlocking Sustainability and Digital Innovation
  • Module 2: Digitalization of the Production Process for Sustainable Growth in SMEs
  • Module 3 Integrating Circular Economy in SME Green and Digital Transformation
  • Module 4 Water Footprint Management and ISO 14046: Principles and Application
  • Module 5 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management: ISO 14064-1 Quantification and Reporting Standards
  • Module 6 Understanding and Applying ISO 14067: Carbon Footprint of Products.

These resources will be available in five languages: Turkish (TR), Italian (IT), Portuguese (PT), Spanish (SP), and English (EN).

  • Standards and footprinting tools: Practical resources to help businesses implement and measure Water Footprints (ISO 14046) and Carbon Footprints (ISO 14064-1 & 14067).
  • European best practices: A curated collection of case studies and successful green and digital  transformation strategies from across our partner countries.

This platform is designed to be a SMEs gateway to professional growth, allowing learners to learn anytime and anywhere. These educational resources will prepare SMEs for the dual challenges of climate change and digital evolution.

How the training content is built

Each of the six training modules is being developed using interactive presentations containing:

  • Educational content: After the learning outcomes, key concepts are presented through clear explanations and multimedia enhancements (infographics, videos, images,etc.).
  • Case studies: At least one real-life example to demonstrate how the green and digital transition is being implemented in the real world.
  • Hands-on activities: Interactive exercises that encourage learners to apply their new skills and think about possible scenarios in their professional life.
  • Self-assessment quizzes: Immediate feedback tools to help learners reinforce their understanding of key concepts.

Next steps: Pilot trainings  and the 4th Transnational Project Meeting in Italy

After finalizing the e-learning platform in April 2026, partners will enter the training delivery phase, which aims to reach 200 participants across all partner countries through online or hybrid sessions until June 2026. These sessions are specifically designed for SME owners, employees, and apprentices to help them navigate the digital materials and e-platform. Following the training phase, each country will prepare an evaluation report. These will be consolidated into a joint report, alongside a comprehensive guide on preparing and using digital e-materials to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability for VET trainers.

In May 2026, partners will gather for the 4th Transnational Project Meeting in Italy, hosted by CNA Marche. This meeting ensures that the final tools delivered to SMEs  are cohesive, technically sound, and ready to tackle the challenges of climate change and digital transformation.
