Increasing the Green and Digital Competencies of SME Owners and Employees in the Shoe Manufacturing and Leather Sector

The environmental and climate crisis demands urgent action across all industries, including the shoe manufacturing and leather sector.

This European project aims to contribute to sustainability by equipping SME owners and employees with essential green and digital skills.

Through an innovative joint training program and the development of specialized learning materials, the project fosters knowledge, awareness, and competencies that support environmental protection and climate change mitigation within the sector.

Main Objectives:

  • Enhance environmental consciousness and sustainable practices in the shoe and leather industries.

  • Improve digital competencies to support eco-friendly and resource- efficient production methods.

  • Strengthen businesses by aligning them with international standards on greenhouse gas emissions, carbon and water footprints, and environmental protection.

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Conducting research and compiling a report on the current status and best practices in green production within the shoemaking and leather sector.

  • Implementing, evaluating, and quality-monitoring all project phases to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.

  • Organizing training-of-trainers (ToT) pilot programs focusing on ISO standards related to greenhouse gas measurement, carbon and water footprints, and climate change adaptation.

  • Developing an e-learning platform with digital training materials and hosting hybrid/online seminars to enhance industry-wide knowledge sharing.

  • Conducting dissemination activities, including a multiplier event, to maximize project impact and outreach.
